Strategic Collaboration Between CATL and DHL: Creating a Green Engine for Sustainable Logistics

In a remarkable stride towards promoting sustainable logistics, CATL, the global frontrunner in battery innovation, and DHL Group, a globally renowned logistics enterprise, have fortified their strategic partnership with a fresh agreement. The primary objective of this agreement is to curtail greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions within logistics parks, highlighting the two companies' shared dedication to creating a greener future and attaining global sustainability targets.

As per the terms of the agreement, CATL will install its state-of-the-art liquid cooling energy storage systems and advanced energy management platforms in DHL's logistics facilities. These solutions will be integrated with battery swapping and ultra-fast charging infrastructure. By doing so, DHL can optimize its energy consumption and increase the utilization of renewable energy sources. This initiative perfectly aligns with DHL's ambitious goal of achieving net-zero emissions in its logistics operations by 2050.

Apart from energy storage, the partnership will also explore progress in electric vehicle (EV) technology, battery recycling, and end-of-life battery management. By leveraging DHL's global network of EV Centers of Excellence, the collaboration aims to stimulate innovation in the automotive mobility sector, further facilitating the transition to sustainable transportation.

Libin Tan, Co-President of Sales and Marketing at CATL, stressed the importance of this partnership, stating, "By combining DHL's unrivaled logistics expertise with CATL's groundbreaking green technologies, we are at the forefront of developing transformative solutions for sustainable logistics. This strengthened collaboration not only supports our common sustainability goals but also accelerates the global shift towards a greener future."

Oscar de Bok, CEO of DHL Supply Chain, echoed the same sentiment, saying, "We are excited to incorporate CATL's energy solutions into our logistics parks while providing our logistics services to CATL. This partnership embodies the innovative spirit and shared vision of our teams, demonstrating how collaboration can drive significant progress towards sustainability."

This agreement is built upon a memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by the two companies last year. The MOU outlined their commitment to carbon-neutral facilities and the electrification of DHL's delivery fleet. The latest collaboration is a tangible step towards implementing these goals on a global scale.

To further support CATL's mission of making advanced technology accessible globally, DHL has been chosen as CATL's preferred logistics partner. DHL's extensive network of EV Centers of Excellence will play a crucial role in delivering integrated logistics solutions, ensuring the efficient deployment of CATL's innovative technologies in international markets.

The partnership between CATL and DHL represents a powerful convergence of expertise and innovation. It sets a new benchmark for sustainable logistics and reinforces their leadership positions in the global transition to a low-carbon economy.
